Systems Inc (MSI) is founded by Morton H. Mehr as a
research and development company concentrating on the
design of optical and infrared instrumentation.
1963
> MSI focuses on the design and fabrication of manual
controls.
1964
> MSI designs the first miniature force type joystick,
followed quickly by the development of the inductive
and piezoresistive joyticks.
1970
> Company core competency becomes grip and hand controls
for tracking and positioning systems. Products range
from medical devices and traffic control to industrial
processes and military applications.
1996
> MSI acquired by Ultra Electronics, worldwide specialists
in electronic systems for aircraft, naval vessels, armored
vehicles, airports and transport systems.
1998
> Secures U.S. patent for Hall Effect technology.
1999
> Receives U.S. patent for MAGTRACK, a positioning
indicating device for harsh environments.
2002
> Develops Hall Effect miniature joysticks.
2003
> Fields industry's first sense of touch HAPTICS
technology.
