November 12, 2003: Ultra MSI has
been awarded a contract by DRS in support of the LRAS3
Program for the DRS/Raytheon team. LRAS3 is the U.S.
Army's Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System.
LRAS3 provides the U. S. Army Brigade Reconnaissance
Troops, Armor and Infantry Battalion Scout Platoons
and the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCT) with a long-range
detection, recognition, identification and far-target
location capability.
Ultra MSI has received funding for
the first year's production of a three year contract,
for the left and right hand controls for LRAS3. Including
this latest award of $1.2 million, Ultra MSI has booked
$3 million on this program.
LRAS3 bridges the gap between currently
fielded systems and Future Combat Systems (FCS). Heavy
battalions, Light Cavalry Squadrons and SBCT Scouts
gain the capability to conduct 24-hour reconnaissance
and surveillance missions while remaining outside the
acquisition and engagement ranges of the threat. Ultra
MSI's technology is used to control the Forward Looking
Infrared Camera, a global positioning interferometer,
an eye-safe laser range finder and a day video camera.
Ultra MSI is proud to have been
awarded certified supplier status by DRS Technologies
and is recognized the world over by our military and
commercial customers as providing leading edge human
machine interface technology.
