October 28, 2002: Ultra MSI has been
awarded the ITSS hand control contract from Raytheon
in McKinney, Texas.
Raytheon was awarded an $8 million
contract from the United States Marine Corps for the
development of the Improved Thermal Sight System (ITSS)
for the existing LAV-25s that will replace the legacy
HIRE product line.
Ultra MSI will provide the hand
control for the ITSS upgrade program, which will incorporate
our new Hall Effect technology and specific ergonomic
features that will replace the existing MSI LAV-25 turret
controls.
The production phase, with options
exercised, would be worth over $105 million to Raytheon.
Over 400 LAVs could be upgraded, and each LAV has two
hand controls. Furthermore, additional upgrades for
HIRE I and HIRE II have the potential of 1000 more LAV
upgrades worldwide.
This win continues Ultra MSI's overall
participation on many fighting vehicle platforms requiring
state-of -the-art human machine interfaces such as Stryker
and Future Combat Systems (FCS).
