Ultra Electronics Measurement Systems Inc. celebrates 50 years serving the defense industryWALLINGFORD, CT, October 18, 2010 On Tuesday, October 12th, Ultra Electronics Measurement Systems Inc. (MSI) marked its 50th Anniversary with a program attended by MSI, Ultra Electronics Executives and special guests, United States Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Wallingford Mayor William Dickinson, Jr., and Raytheon Network Centric Systems Engineer, William Farmer. Originally founded in 1960 in Norwalk, Connecticut by Mr. Morton Mehr as a technology company providing specialty test and measurement equipment, MSI has become a leading designer and manufacturer of high precision human machine integration devices and systems. For decades, Ultra Electronics has been a provider of critical components to many of our most vital defense programs utilized in the air, on the ground, and at sea, said Congresswoman DeLauro. I applaud them for the excellence they have achieved over the last 50 years in helping Connecticut remain a leader in the defense industry, such an important part of our states economy, the jobs they have created and the great environment they provide for those workers. In a letter to MSI, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell stated I am truly honored that such an extraordinary company has called Connecticut home since its founding in 1960. MSI should be proud of its rich history and impressive achievements in the defense industry. It is a privilege to extend my words of tribute to all as this distinguished company celebrates its golden anniversary. With MSIs focus on force protection and products that provide our nations warfighters with the ability to effectively and predictably control vehicles, payloads and weapon systems while being safely protected within a vehicle or shelter and at a safe distance from danger; the company is proud of the role it plays in keeping our nations warfighters out of harms way. The soldier in theater is our customer. What we do here at MSI every day is make products and devices that hopefully help our soldiers come home safe and sound, stated MSI President, Ken Tasch upon closing his remarks. During his portion of the program, William Farmer, Raytheon Network Centric Engineer, presented MSI with one of Raytheons Valued Supplier Awards for 2010. With over 3000 suppliers on the Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System for which MSI provides rugged, precision hand controls, Mr. Farmer indicated that this kind of recognition doesnt happen very often; MSI has been one of our top and most important suppliers because of the interface between the human and the actual use of the system. It is MSIs technology, innovation and people that are responsible for the companys success and longevity. Without good people, we wouldnt have a company. All we would have are bricks and mortar. It is my sincerely held belief that the backbone of not just the US economy and the UK economy, but of economies everywhere, is companies like MSI. Without companies like MSI that generate jobs, generate innovation and growth, you wouldnt have the larger companies who rely upon us in their supply chain to do what they do, commented Rakesh Sharma, Ultra Electronics COO, during the proceedings.
